Laughter Yoga is a playful and fun series of physical exercises which stimulate the body to rediscover its ability to laugh deeply for no reason. Unlike other methods of laughing relying on comedy or humour, laughter yoga uses no jokes or comedy to stimulate laughter.

The laughter yoga method proves that you do not need a sense of humour to laugh, you do not need to be happy to laugh and you do not need a reason to laugh. All you need is a willingness to enter an into the laughter yoga exercises and the spirit of childlike playfulness that is part of a laughter yoga session.

Laughter yoga is practiced in a group and relies on the fact that laughter is contagious. Group members interacting and maintaining eye contact with each other while doing the laughter yoga exercises stimulate themselves and the other group members to laugh.

Laughter yoga initially makes use of fake laughter which within the group setting quickly turns to real and deep laughter. The human body does not know the difference between fake laughter and real laughter. Once laughter club members start laughing, even if the laughter is fake, the body quickly converts the fake laughter into real laughter.
